Big Hair and Common Grace

John and I got worlds best christmas present this year. Tenth row seats to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. His first time, my third, the show was FANTASTIC. Beyond the amazing vocalists and instrumentals it not only jived with my musicians soul, it jived with my actual soul. There were parts that I almost cried. Now I know I'm emotional but I do not cry at rock concerts. Gods grace is so evident in their performance, lyrics, and music. They tell the story of Jesus in a way that captured my heart, in a way that even the most stubborn non believer is affected by.

Here see for yourself!

I also found myself thinking, these guys seem like they were big hair rockers in the 80's! Little did i know most of them actually are. Among the list of trash metal bands these guys come from are : Savatage, Testament, Alex Skolnick Trio, Megadeth, Circle II Circle, and Metal Church. I just think it's so cool that a bunch of ex metal rockers are carrying around the message of Jesus-I love how he uses EVERYONE. :)

Moments

Have you ever had those moments in your life where you know beyond any shadow of a doubt you're doing exactly what God intended you to be doing. Like everything fit so perfectly that it had to be God's will?I think i've been having a lot of those moments lately, where everything fits, the moment, the timing, the words, they are so just perfect.

kinda cool. :)

Advent Conspiracy

Our church participates in Advent Conspiracy, totally awesome. Most of you already know what that is, so I'll make it short. Basically to bring Christ back into Christmas and continue changing the world by celebrating His birth Advent Conspiracy asks that you give up buying or receiving one gift and donating to Living Water Foundation ($10 is enough to give one child clean water for the rest of his/her life). While on the Advents Conspiracy forums I found out about an amazing corporation called NightLight. The company itself sells jewelry, but the proceeds go to so much more! Here is the info:

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2

NightLight is an international organization committed to addressing the complex issues surrounding trafficking and prostitution by catalyzing individual and community transformation. NightLight’s vision is to offer intervention to sexually exploited women and children, to enable them to discover their dignity, and to provide a program of holistic transformation, empowering them to live and work in their community. NightLight’s mission is to build relationships and provide hope, intervention, rescue and assistance to women and children exploited in the sex industry by offering alternative employment, vocational opportunities, life-skills training and physical, emotional and spiritual development to women seeking freedom. NightLight builds support networks internationally to intervene and assist women, men and children whose lives are negatively impacted by the sex industry.

Can't Stop Laughing

a lot of people have seen this already but i just discovered RiffTrax. aka most hilarious thing ever. its movie commentaries done by two genius men with too much time on their hands. they sell there movies for like $2 but I'm cheap so i just watch them on YouTube. my favorite was the twilight one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpT8l94CKcs
has lots of great quote's:
"oh she's lost already...damn you disproportionately huge high school for a town of three thousand!"
they also do Lord of the Rings, 300, Harry Potter, AND The Lion King.

World Of Warcraft

Alright, now i know how video game addicts can be-I've lived with some, but recently, I've found the WORST/BEST depiction of the addictive nature of the infamous World Of Warcraft. I found this channel on YouTube, a younger brother tapes his ridiculous older brother named Steven-a true Warcraft addict. His mom deleted his account and the kid FLIPS OUT. I can't encourage you enough to watch the video.

Thanks to one meddling younger brother this kid is ALL over the internet. there are 8 videos total and I suspect more are to follow. here is but a taste of the glory of the Greatest Freakout Ever:

Halloween Festivities

So this Halloween I met up with the Malone gang and we headed out to Cedar Point. Now anyone who knows me pretty well knows what a waste of money this is for me. I hate roller coasters, I'm such a baby, last ride i went on was the log ride and i cried the whole time. but since it was Halloween and my friend Chad was going (who hates rides too) I decided to go last minute.

Well all the haunted stuff was super fun, i had some pretty tasty (wayy over priced) Chinese food, AND i went on one ride. Okay granted it was the mine ride (there were plenty of 9 year olds that couldn't get enough of it) but this is a big thing for me! I didn't even cry...just cursed a lot.

By far the most frightening thing (more so then ANY of the haunted attractions was my friend Jon Ford. He's pretty awesome, from Alaska and somehow ended up at Malone. well over the summer he never cut his hair or shaved...the result is being mistaken for a homeless man. He walked around CP all night scaring unsuspecting people, most of whom did not even realize he didn't work there.

Best Website Ever Created

So a couple of months ago i found the best website EVER. its called The People of WalMart. what it is is a bunch of picture that people send in of Walmart shoppers...who fit all of the stereotypes. Now don't eveyone get mad and think that i enjoy these peoples humiliation, i used to spend friday nights at Walmart with mom, so i have little to no room to talk.

for those of you brave enough here's the link: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

for those of you not here is one of my favorite pics submitted:

While I'm Waiting

I just realized something- I have no idea where my life is going. I don't know 100% what I want to do, or where I want to go. Which friends will be there for the rest of my life and which are just passing by. I sit hear thinking-things will finally come together for me, i'll be married, out of debt, a career I love, and kids someday. But it's funny that a few years ago i said the same thing-one day i'll get out of here, go to school, meet "the one", have freedom!

I think i'm missing the point of what life is all about. it's not about waiting to have your life come together. This is it (at least I think it is), real life happens now, in all of the confussion and unknown.

What really matters is God. Real life isn't one without problems and frustrations. I think my life is about pressing through all that stuff so that God can accomplish bigger things for the kingdom. life isn't about waiting for answers,or for things to finally come together, because they may never come, it may never be what you wanted. It's about what you do with the time while you wait. maybe none of this makes any sense. maybe i'm way off base.

While I'm waiting, i will serve You
While I'm waiting, i will worship
While I'm waiting, i will not faint.
I'll be running the race-even while I wait.

So I've been investgating a lot this summer

I also have a aquired a second job (hopefully).

Summer.

I hate this. I have never before been so sad to greet summer. I lived for summer, for freedom, for irresponsibility. Now summer has morphed into this black hole. It's sucking away all my free time, all my friends, my boyfriend, my support system. It's been heartbreaking to say goodbye to all of these people i have grown accustomed to seeing everyday. College is so boss, this summer is going to break my heart.

All Nighters With Angela, This Is College Right?

So as a college freshman we are bound to put things off sometimes. This year I think I've been doing pretty well considering I have not had to pull an all nighter yet this year...until today. I woke up at 9:00 am on Wednesday and i am proud to say that on Thursday at 6:55 a.m. I am still awake. last night we went shopping for food for our camping trip and took an hour and a half road trip to EP (East Palestine, aka America's butt hole and Angela's home town) with John and Paul to get more supplies for camping. so we got back around two. It is at this point that reality sets in, I still have a five page paper to write and it has to be done by eight fifteen a.m. Now Mike and Jen (and maybe Emily if you're reading this) I do not do this all the time, this paper just crept up on me, don't rat me out to mom. Anyway long story short angela and i stayed up all night to write our papers and got to watch as night fades to morning. as strange as it is i have never felt more proud. WE DID IT! and on top of all the stress, it turned out to be a beautiful morning so as the sun was rising angela and i went into the quad to thank God for a glorious new day he made. Yesterday I was given a lot of bad news, HOWEVER, though the sorrow may last through the night, HIS JOY COMES IN THE MORNING! Thank you Daddy for trading my sorrows for joy. <3

P.S. It only took us two trips to McDonalds to get coffee refills!

Prayer Journals

So at our MTD Bible Study we got assigned random prayers partners. Basically we are to keep a journal and pray for our partner everyday. I'm so pumped, I already feel the Holy Spirit working through this process. I'm so excited to give mine and see who has my prayer warrior is. Life is good and so is God!

CA

so as many of you know, i didn't get the CA position, everyone told me I was a shoe in, that they were positive I'd get it. Regardless, i find it so frustrating that not only I was declined but other more than qualified people got rejected. I mean these people are past Ca's, Ra's, tour guides, speakers, leaders on our campus and honors students, in my opinion if the best of the best have been denied, who did get the position?! In any case, it was a very humbling experience, i hope i'm dealing with it in a Godly way. If not you guys need to call me out okay?

April Fools!

April first was great this year. John and I faked an engagement and got a handful of believers. I guess the old Malone motto of ring by spring worked to our advantage. Haha. We also went to a huge spaghetti dinner at our friend Kelly Kline's house. Then we went back to campus because John planned a surprise. Turns out he hid 40 Easter Eggs around my room filled with candy and little presents, my favorite including my new iTrip.

my new "engagement" ring.

Elle, Me, and Kelly at her apartment for dinner!

My goodies!

My huge Chocolate Bunny John got me from Mally's.

Double Date

So John and I went on a impromptu double date with Lauren and Caleb. The boys surprised us and took us to Macaroni Grill (thankfully not golden chorale like we previously thought). Dinner was delicious, thanks boys

Of course my nerdy nursing friends can't resist studying! :) This is a kidney.

Kelsey Krystin and Matt Visit Malone.

Last week/weekend was one of the best I have had since coming to Malone. I painted kyles face like the joker for intramural basketball, Kels, Kyrstin and Matt Ellis came up to visit Malone which was a blast. we got a huge group to go to cheeseburger in paradise (half of which ended up not ordering anything at all to the dismay of our waitress). Then we hung out in the barn for like 3 hours talking, skateboarding, getting yelled at for skateboarding, playing sardines, messing around with Mitch while he was asleep, and getting things stuck in the Moose's antlers. After that we took a road trip to Walmart and got in trouble again. The lady said and I quote "THIS IS NOT A TOY STORE!". which really puzzled us because after all, they do sell toys there...then on Saturday we pissed away the day playing Mario Cart on the Wii and spent like four hours at Ihop where I was offered a job there for the billionth time.

The Lunch Ladies

You have one job, to make food, and to make it not suck. Today the cake looked like poop. You tell me if the job is being done right.

St. Pattys Day

Some college kids drink their brains out on St. Patty's Day. As for me and my friends we will go to McDonald's and drink shamrock shakes until we feel sick. :)

Mornings, Good, Bad, & Ugly

I typically loathe waking up, but lately I have started to kind of enjoy it. Here are a few things to make or break mornings.

The Good: So Angela and I have started doing accountability breakfasts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, i like this because we get to talk about God, and whats been going on in our lives, the good and the bad. I also really like this because it's the only time grapefruit is available to eat.

The Bad: Ew nothing ruins my mornings like the nasty stalactite in the shower that drips on your head.(this is a view from underneath the stalactite)

(this is a side view of the nasty stalactite)

The Ugly: Two words, bed head. I hate having to deal with a rats nest every morning.

Angela just decided that she needed a picture of my bed head. :)
